I am recuperating nicely from my left knee replacement.  Everyone is please with the progress, but I just wish I could bend it more, I can only bend it to about 60-68 degrees by myself, but with the physical therapist help, up to about 80, so I’m trying to exercise it even when I am sitting in the recliner by bending it.

I think I posted a picture of my new grandson, Kaleb.  I would like to ask for prayers for his mother, Carrie, she is in intensive care in very critical condition, due to complications of  childbirth.  Her body has infection throughout it and she has drain tubes from her lungs and spleen, draining the infection.  She has had three major surgeries (the first being the C-section) since the birth of Kaleb.  Today’s x-rays show things are worse than yesterday.

Thank you in advance for your prayers for both her and my son, Kevin.

By the time some of you get this and read it, I will be in surgery for my knee replacement, and for some of you, I will be in recovery or in my room starting my recuperation.  I’ve been up sitting in the recliner most of the night because my knee hurt so bad that I couldn’t get comfortable. I’m doing a little laundry while I’ve been up. My daughter is sleeping on the couch, so I’m trying not to wake her, although if she does wake up, I plan to send her and my grandpuppy to my room to sleep in my bed.  I still have  a few things to pack.

we had about 4 or 5 inches of snow Saturday night, but we didn’t get the ice yesterday.  I’m afraid the roads may be a little slick this morning, though.

I spent Friday morning at the hospital, where my new grandson, Kaleb Anthony Cox, Kevin’s baby, was born. He weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 18 inches long.

just a short post to update you.  I had the bone scan done and everything looks fine. My knee surgery is scheduled for March 2, they had a cancellation so I was able to get in before April, which is how far out they were scheduling.  That’s three weeks from yesterday, I’ve got several things to do before then and get my house organized for my recovery.

This is just a short post to update you.  My bronchitis is finally over and I have recovered from it, other than still trying to get my strength back.  However, my knee problem is s different story.  I have to have a knee replacement on my left knee, but I have to have a bone scan first because when the MRI was read, there was a small spot that didn’t look right. I have the bone scan tomorrow and go back to the doctor on Tuesday.

i will admit that I have been struggling with it. Although, since my right knee was replaced three years ago, I know a little bit of what needs to be done here in the house to make it ready for when I come home from the hospital.

as I look back on my retirement, I can see that it was in my best interest to retire when I did, because things were changing so much, I would not have been able to manage financially with having this surgery if I had still been there, because with short term disability, I would only have had 60% of my salary coming in.

I’ll  keep you posted on the results of the bone scan.

One might say that I am just flitting around all over the place tonight, or, to be more accurate, this early morning.  I’m just not real sure what to do with myself.  My legs are in the restless syndrome stages of the night, therefore, I cannot get comfortable, so thought I would try to see if I can sit still long enough to write for a little while, or see if I can get them to calm down enough that I can go to sleep.

My bronchitis is some better, I’m not as stopped up and not coughing as much, but still have trouble with my breathing, where it feels like I can’t breathe.  I’m on an inhaler now, along with my original meds from December 26th and from when I was in to see the doctor last week.  I go back to see him on Wednesday.  He is wanting me to have an echocardiogram done, and then, if the cardiologist thinks I need it, a stress test.  I have the echo scheduled on Monday morning at 9:00 with the doctor’s appointment immediately following it at 10:00.  Then, on Tuesday, I have an appointment at 8:30 with my orthopedic doctor to take another look at my knee and see where we go from here.  Wednesday is my fullest day at this point, I have an appointment with my primary care at 11:00, my counselor at 1:00 (because I have had to miss two sessions, it’s important to keep this one), and at 3:00 I have an appointment with the nurse at my endocrinologist office to get my new insulin pump.  I’m not sure if I will have to pick up my granddaughter from school at 2:30 that day or not, but, either way, it’s a full day.

I still get extremely tired, and if I do as much as take a shower, it zaps me from all my energy for a while, as does just about anything that I do, but, I think I am getting a little better.  I was up moving around quite a bit earlier today (yesterday), because I felt a little better and just couldn’t sit still.  I’m going to try to go in to work for a while later this morning, hopefully fairly early and try to work a few hours.  I haven’t been able to work much these past few weeks, so I really need to get some hours in before I have to turn them in for the  month.  It really hurts when you have met your out of pocket maximum and then January rolls around again and you have all those co-pays to pay and you’re not used to it.  Normally, though, I don’t have this many medical expenses in a month.  This doesn’t even count my prescriptions yet for the month because I usually do the mail order on everything that I can, and I think everything was refilled in December, so that gives me a break for a little while.

While I’ve been down with this bronchitis and knee pain, Rebecca has been down with a bad case of the flu, and is finally getting better.  She’s been shampooing the carpet downstairs and trying to get things ready so that she can move in as soon as possible.  I know it still needs to be painted, the walls are really dirty, but if she can just get her stuff moved in and then work on the painting and there is some work that has to be done in the bathroom.  I’m hoping she and my grandpuppy will be able to get moved in by the end of this weekend since the weather is supposed to be nice at least until then.

I have talked with my primary care about my diabetes and the fact that I need to lose weight, and so am in the process of trying to work with a dietician and get really serious about losing the weight and getting my diabetes under better control.

My dogs are going crazy right now, they think they hear something outside.  I think I have new neighbors moving in next door, so am hoping it’s just some noises from them, because I do not plan on opening my door at 1:30 in the morning, although I didn’t hear any kind of a knock.

I’m going to stop for now, may go do some cleaning in the kitchen, since my legs are still really giving me fits.

January 10, 2014

Just a bit of an update for the last few days. I’m on my second round of medications for the bronchitis and a lot stronger anti-inflammatory for my knee.  So this year is not beginning on the best notes. Along with the bronchitis and knee pain, i learned tonight that the person I work with at my part time job had have worked with for over eight years had a massive heart attack Monday afternoon, and passed away this evening, never regaining consciousness, so it’s been a really rough night for me. And now my knee and leg is really restless and bothering me so I’m going to have to go at least try to get busy to take my mind off the restlessness!

hopefully my new year will turn around and get better soon.

Will write just a couple of lines to update you on my status since I haven’t written since Christmas Eve. I came down with a severe case of bronchitis on Christmas evening.  Went to my primary Care  doctor on Friday afternoon where they did X-rays to make sure it was not pneumonia.  By Saturday evening, I was in ER because it had seemed to get a lot worse.  I’ve lost my voice, still coughing quite a bit and get weak really quickly.

that coupled with the fact that my left knee is still really in severe pain has done me in these last couple of weeks. I have pulled out my Cain and have been tempted to get out the walker from when  I had my right knee replaced.  I have an appointment on Thursday  with my orthopedic  doctor, to look at my left knee. I’m going to Close it’s really hard to try to write when my iPad is adding words that I don’t know about.
